Made for how Obsidian notes look
Readers need no Obsidian
Shared notes open in any browser, with a light or dark reader you can tune per link.
Live, with presence
Edits sync while the note is open, and you can see who else is looking at it.
Obsidian syntax, rendered
Callouts, math, task lists, and embedded images look the way they do in your vault.
Straight into a vault
Send a note to another Note Colab user by User ID. They accept it, or opt in to auto-import.
Links that expire
Set an expiry per link, or revoke a share and remove the server copy whenever you want.
Self-hostable
Point the plugin at your own compatible server. Identities stay scoped to that server.
Privacy, stated plainly
What is encrypted, and what the server can still see.
Encrypted on your device
- Current clients encrypt stored Markdown, titles, and supported images with AES-256-GCM before upload. Older shares may keep a plaintext title until updated.
- The key lives after
#in the link. Browsers do not send that part to the server. - The plugin has no telemetry or advertising.
Visible to the server
- Live collaboration text passes through the relay unencrypted while people are editing.
- Share metadata: identifiers, permissions, timestamps, sizes, collaborators, and image file names.
- Anyone with an active view-only or editable link can read the note, so send it only to intended recipients.
Details and limits are on the security page.
